  • 6-8 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your preferred cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (Dijon or your preferred mustard)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Egg wash (1 egg beaten with a splash of water)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.
  3. Spread the mustard evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Layer the ham slices on top of the mustard, covering the entire surface of the puff pastry.
  5. Place the cheese slices on top of the ham, overlapping them if necessary.
  6. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log, making sure to keep the filling intact.
  8. If desired, brush the outside of the log with an egg wash for a golden finish.
  9. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1/2-inch (1 cm) pinwheels.
  10. Place the pinwheels onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed up and golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven and let the Ham and Cheese Pinwheels cool for a few minutes before serving.
