These Caramelized Banana-Filled Cream Puffs are the perfect sweet treat! They are made with a light and airy cream puff pastry filled with a sweet caramelized banana cream filling. The combination of flavors and textures is simply irresistible!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the water and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the flour mixture, stirring until it forms a ball. Allow to cool slightly.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and foamy. Gradually add the egg mixture to the water and flour mixture, stirring until combined. Add the vanilla extract.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a few inches between each puff. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat. Peel and slice the bananas and add them to the cream. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bananas are softened. Add the brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Once the cream puffs are done baking, let cool. Slice each puff in half, then spoon the caramelized banana cream into each puff. Serve immediately.
