Sweet Yorkshire Pudding

Instead of serving the pudding as a savory side dish, try adding a spoonful of jam or fruit compote to the batter and baking until golden brown. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream for a delicious dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup jam or fruit compote
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Whipped cream, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together.
  4. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and whisk until smooth.
  5. Let the batter rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Add the vegetable oil to a 9-inch (23 cm) baking dish and place it in the oven to heat for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the dish from the oven and pour the batter into the dish.
  8. Spoon the jam or fruit compote over the batter.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pudding is golden brown and puffed up.
  10. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream for a delicious dessert.
