Cajun-Style Seafood Gumbo with Shrimp and Crab Recipe
This hearty and flavorful Cajun-style seafood gumbo is packed with succulent shrimp and crab. The combination of the two seafoods along with the Cajun spices creates a savory, spicy, and comforting gumbo that is sure to be a hit!
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 stalks of celery, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
- 2 cups of chicken broth
- 1/2 cup of tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup of long-grain white rice
- 1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 pound of crab meat
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley leaves
Directions:
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add the paprika, Cajun seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Pour in the chicken broth and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and stir in the rice. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, shrimp, crab meat, and bay leaf. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and stir in the parsley. Serve hot.
