Cajun-Style Seafood Gumbo with Shrimp and Crab Recipe

This hearty and flavorful Cajun-style seafood gumbo is packed with succulent shrimp and crab. The combination of the two seafoods along with the Cajun spices creates a savory, spicy, and comforting gumbo that is sure to be a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 stalks of celery, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup of long-grain white rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pound of shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound of crab meat
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley leaves

Directions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the paprika, Cajun seasoning, thyme, and cayenne pepper. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer and stir in the rice. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, shrimp, crab meat, and bay leaf. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the parsley. Serve hot.
