Classic Meat Lasagna is a timeless and hearty Italian dish that features layers of lasagna noodles, rich and meaty Bolognese sauce, and a delicious combination of cheeses.
Ingredients:
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top, followed by another layer of meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Dollop spoonfuls of ricotta cheese on top of the lasagna.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
