Creamy Chicken and Dumplings
This Creamy Chicken and Dumplings recipe is the perfect comfort food. It is made with tender chicken, creamy sauce and fluffy dumplings. The best part is that it is so easy to make and it is sure to satisfy your family.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of chicken broth
- 2 cups of cooked chicken, cut into cubes
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons of dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons of dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of milk
Directions:
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the flour and stir until combined. Slowly add the chicken broth, whisking constantly to avoid any lumps. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the cooked chicken, cream, oregano, thyme, pepper and salt. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and milk. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the simmering sauce.
- Cover and cook for 10 minutes. Uncover and cook for an additional 10 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
- Serve warm with a sprinkle of fresh parsley, if desired.
