Crispy Bacon Jalapeño Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup diced jalapeño peppers
  • 2 cups cooked macaroni
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add in flour and whisk until combined. Gradually add in milk, whisking constantly until thickened.
  3. Add in cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, pepper, and salt. Whisk until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
  4. Stir in bacon, jalapeño peppers, and cooked macaroni and mix until combined.
  5. Pour mac and cheese into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle with panko bread crumbs.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
