Crispy Duck Confit Recipe:

This delicious crispy duck confit recipe is sure to be a hit at your next dinner party. The duck is cooked in its own fat, creating a succulent and flavourful meal. The duck is then served with a side of fragrant potatoes and a tangy sauce to bring the dish together.

Ingredients:

  • 2 duck legs
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of duck fat
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup of white wine
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup of sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Season duck legs with salt and pepper and place in a large baking dish.
  3. Heat duck fat in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add white wine and simmer for 5 minutes. Add parsley and pour mixture over duck legs.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes, until duck is golden and cooked through.
  6. Meanwhile, place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  7. Melt butter in the pot and season potatoes with salt and pepper. Mash the potatoes until desired consistency is reached.
  8. In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, mustard, and 1 tablespoon of the cooking liquid from the duck. Serve alongside mashed potatoes.
