This recipe is perfect for those who love fresh bread straight from the oven. Made with whole wheat flour, it’s a healthier option than traditional white bread.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, yeast, honey (or maple syrup), and salt.
- Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the mixture and stir until the ingredients are well combined.
- Knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Let it rise for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased bread pan.
- Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
