This recipe is perfect for those who love fresh bread straight from the oven. Made with whole wheat flour, it’s a healthier option than traditional white bread.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, yeast, honey (or maple syrup), and salt.
  2. Add the warm water and vegetable oil to the mixture and stir until the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Let it rise for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased bread pan.
  7. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, slice and serve!
