Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound (8 ounces) elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beer (any type)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Salt, to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package directions.
  3. Drain and set aside.
  4. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Whisk in the beer and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, cheddar cheese, and cream cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.

  11. Bake for 20 minutes or until the pretzel topping is golden brown.
