Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound (8 ounces) elbow macaroni
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beer (any type)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups crushed pretzels
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Salt, to taste
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cook the macaroni according to package directions.
- Drain and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Whisk in the beer and bring to a simmer.
- Add the garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, cheddar cheese, and cream cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni and stir to combine. Taste and season with salt and black pepper, to taste.
- Transfer the macaroni mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the crushed pretzels and butter. Sprinkle over the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the pretzel topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm.
