Sausage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces sausage meat (or remove the casing from sausages)
  • 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme or sage)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sausage meat, breadcrumbs, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Cut the pastry into rectangles or squares.
  5. Place a portion of the sausage mixture along one edge of each pastry piece.
  6. Roll up the pastry, enclosing the sausage mixture, and press the edges together to seal.
  7. Place the sausage rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
  8. Brush the rolls with beaten egg to give them a golden color.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the Sausage Rolls cool slightly before serving.
  11. Serve warm as a tasty appetizer or a satisfying snack.
