A lighter take on the classic, this spaghetti bolognese is made with ground turkey instead of beef for a healthier option.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
  2. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to the package directions until al dente.
  5. Drain the spaghetti and serve topped with the turkey bolognese sauce and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
