Create a unique take on sushi by using venison as a protein. Venison Sushi Rolls are a delicious and healthy way to enjoy a classic dish with a twist. These rolls are packed with flavor, and are a great way to use up any leftover venison.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cooked venison, diced
- 1/2 cup cooked sushi rice
- 1/4 cup nori seaweed, cut into strips
- 1/4 cup cucumber, diced
- 1/4 cup carrots, diced
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup green onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon white sesame seeds
Directions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the cooked venison, cooked sushi rice, nori, cucumber, carrots, red peppers, and green onion.
- Pour the soy sauce mixture over the venison and rice mixture and mix until everything is evenly combined.
- Lay out a sheet of nori on a flat surface. Place a generous spoonful of the venison and rice mixture onto the nori, leaving about 1 inch of the nori uncovered at the top.
- Carefully roll the nori up into a log shape, using your fingers to press the mixture into a tight roll.
- Once the roll is complete, sprinkle with the black and white sesame seeds.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 8 even pieces. Serve with extra soy sauce, if desired.
