Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 pound whole wheat spaghetti
Directions:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
- Stir in the tomatoes and water. Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 25 minutes.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and remove the skillet from the heat.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the spaghetti and return it to the pot. Add the turkey Bolognese sauce and toss to combine. Serve hot with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
