Grilled Chicken Shawarma with Hummus
This delicious Mediterranean dish is the perfect way to enjoy the flavor of chicken shawarma and hummus. The combination of the grilled chicken shawarma and creamy hummus is sure to be a hit with the whole family. This healthy and satisfying dish is sure to be a hit at dinner time!
Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon each of cumin, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, and cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup hummus
- 4 pitas
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
Directions:
- In a bowl, combine the chicken strips, olive oil, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Mix well and set aside.
- Heat a grill pan over high heat. Add the chicken strips and cook for about 5 minutes, until cooked through. Flip the chicken and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, warm the pita bread in the oven for a few minutes. Spread the hummus on each pita.
- Once the chicken is cooked, layer it on top of the hummus-covered pitas.
- In a small bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, parsley, tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. Spoon the mixture over the chicken shawarma.
- Fold the pitas over the top and serve.
